10 Healthy Movie Snacks

Everyone loves watching movies, whether it is a night out to the theater or staying in to watch some Netflix.  Either way, more often than not, you will want a snack while you enjoy your movie.  The problem with typical movie snacks – popcorn, chips, chocolate bars, and candy all washed down with a giant soft drink or Slurpee – is that it can all easily add up to well over a day’s worth of calories and insane amounts of sugar.

But there is no need to deprive yourself either, as there are loads of healthier alternatives, my top ten healthier movie snacks listed below.  To keep portions within reason, just make sure to portion out a single serving of your snack before you start the movie so you don’t end up mindlessly eating way too much while distracted.

Frozen grapes are my summer snack staple because when frozen they get almost fluffy inside.  Just wash and dry your grapes thoroughly, cut into quarters, arrange on a cookie sheet in a single layer and freeze overnight.  Use your favorite variety of seedless grapes, even the cotton candy variety.  This one isn’t for little kids or anyone at risk of choking of course.

Truth be told I actually prefer fruity desserts or caramel to chocolate.  I know it’s weird.  This raw caramel is a snap to make and is a much better choice than traditional caramel.  Paired with tart and juicy Granny Smith apple slices it is the perfect fall snack.

Crunchy Baked Chickpeas

Have you ever had baked chickpeas?  They’re amazing and crazy easy to make.  Drain and rinse a BPA-free can of chickpeas very well and pat dry with a clean paper towel.  Drizzle with a little bit of melted coconut oil or ghee, your favorite herbs/spices/flavors, and a little salt to taste and arrange on a lined cookie sheet.  Bake at 350 for about 15-20 minutes or until golden and crisp.

Guacamole
