The Simple Trick to Reduce Your Baby’s Risk of Food Allergies

A recent study from Reuters demonstrated that babies who were fed the most fresh fruits and vegetables and the fewest processed and packaged foods (including commercial baby food) and adult foods were less likely to have food allergies by the age of two than babies who ate processed foods on a regular basis.

What does this mean?  Whenever possible, make your baby’s food fresh at home with fresh, organic ingredients.  Bust out your blender and puree your own steamed sweet potatoes, peas, green beans and carrots (freeze extra in silicone or BPA-free ice cube trays for easy future meals) at home to maximize nutrition and dramatically reduce your baby’s exposure to chemicals, preservatives, added sugars, salt and starches.  While packaged foods are great in a pinch and to keep on hand in case of emergency, day to day try to stick with fresh food as much as possible.
